Position Title: Software Engineer

Summary:

BTA is a small company with an excellent opportunity for Systems Applications and Data Analyst to get in on the ground floor.  Our company surveys large roof systems and processes data and AutoCAD data to provide budgeting information to our clients.  We have a custom database system consisting of Oracle, PHP, and a host of in-house applications written in Borland C++ Builder.  Many of the tasks that we do can be classified as data warehousing and we create applications to analyze data processed in different ways.

We are looking for a programmer/database manager who can solve daily production problems.  The work to be performed changes on a daily basis and may require the applicant to write a custom program, analyze algorithms, query data and format spreadsheets, convert one format of data into another format, write scripts to change data from one set of tables to another set of tables and other tasks as needed.  The work is complicated and demanding.  This applicant in question must have the ability to work with persons who do not have strong computer skills.  Communicating complex ideas in layman’s terms is a must. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The duties of the Systems Applications and Data Analyst will be the following (not prioritized):

  • Beta test new software, fix bugs.
  • Produce custom data output as requested by Operations Manager.
  • Create duplicate databases, process and produce comparison analysis.
  • Assist users with FSM, Website problems.
  • Produce custom budgets
  • Create data converters for input into our system, or output to third party systems.
  • Troubleshoot problems with factors.
  • Troubleshoot costing problems.
  • Troubleshoot As-built problems.
  • Troubleshoot CAD import problems.
  • Troubleshoot defect problems.
  • Create and maintain help documentation.
  • Create and update user documentation.

Employee will be working on a Dell Precision 490 Xeon 5150 CPU with 20” flat panel display.

Qualifications

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

Must have database experience.

Must have C++ knowledge

Oracle, FoxPro, MS Access, PHP experience preferred but not required 

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
