Cool Roofs can deliver high solar reflectance and high thermal emittance. They are mostly associated with white roofs; however, they come in a variety of colors and materials including metal roofing products that can be EnergyStar rated in dark colors.
Vegetative roofing or green roofs is a roof system covered with vegetation and a growing medium, planted over a roofing or waterproofing membrane. The system may also include additional layers such as a root barrier, drainage and irrigation systems, and insulation.
Solar Roof Systems use solar panels to convert sunlight into electricity. A system is made up solar panels, a power converter, and the interconnections and mounting for the other components. In urban and suburban areas, photovoltaic arrays are commonly used on rooftops to supplement power use.

Saving millions of dollars through strategic roof repair and replacement practices. BTA supports Total Roof Management Programs worldwide. BTA provides full-service data collection, database management, program management and design and construction projects for facility managers and property owners globally.
One of the top 10 largest school districts in the country was seeking a way to better manage its roof inventory and effectively plan, direct and oversee its functions pertaining to the repair, replacement and maintenance of its roofs. BTA was selected as the most qualified provider to perform the roof assessment services and achieve the stated goals of the project.
BTA performed roof assessments on over 200 schools comprising over 21 million square feet of roofing. This data was analyzed by the RoofSuite® system to identify the best approach to extend the life of the school district's roofing inventory. The results of this analysis presented them with an opportunity to invest $1.5 million in strategic repairs to its roof inventory and achieve an increase in the average life span equivalent to over $8.7 million dollars in value. The graph below illustrates how the school district will have fewer roofs that will need to be replaced in the next three years - lowering their capital requirements during this time period by $3.9 million.
BTA is the prime provider of total roof management solutions, financial planning and analysis as well
as roof construction management for a large governmental agency of the US., which has numerous installations comprised of multiply facilities throughout the country. Since the project began in 2004, there have been three additional facilities added to the portfolio in 2005.
BTA has used RoofSuite® to determine proactive 'optimal repair' strategies that will prolong the service life of the agency's roof inventory. Through careful planning and execution of these repairs, BTA was able to add nearly $8 million dollars in asset value to the roof portfolio over the past three years.
BTA has experience in providing Total Roof Management solutions for major automotive and manufacturing facilities since 1970. The services include re-survey of approximately 150 million square feet of roofing at 72 facilities., ongoing management of roofing databases, full facility assessments and associated services of planning, budgeting and construction support.
